Hunger Undone Contest

I'm dealing with a horrible flu/virus of some kind, so I've been holed up in the house all weekend and am trying to recover. I'm sorry I haven't been around, hopefully I you'll see me online soon.

Anyhoo...

This is the "post" if you're interested in winning a PDF copy, leave a comment and your email address.  I'll announce the winner on Thursday evening.  (You can check out the blurb and read an excerpt below.  This one is hot and SHORT.  It is a novelette and not a full length novella -- just sayin'. *grin*)

Have a great week!

Blurb:

Three months ago, jaguar shifter Marshall Mackenzie met his mate. Sultry witch Mira Jones is beautiful, smart, and everything he wants -- there is just one problem. Their introduction was orchestrated by his employer, which meant Marshall was forced to break Mira’s trust in order to uncover the secrets of a magical coven responsible for killing innocents. Mira fled from him when she learned the truth -- both angry and afraid -- but Marshall’s determined to teach the alluring female that while she can run from the hunger that now consumes her, she can never hide.

Excerpt:

“Do you think you can stop me after I came all this way, darlin’?” he drawled and continued advancing, purposefully ignoring her request.

“I think I could try.” She met his stare without flinching, her hazel irises flashing a beautiful grass green. “Are you sure you want to go there? You can’t trick me this time.”

He stepped closer to her, placed one hand on the wall just over her head, and whispered as he bowed over her shorter frame, “You’re surrounded by people who I’m wagering don’t know a damned thing about who or what you are. I’m willing to take the chance.”

“Damn you.” She peered over his shoulder, undoubtedly validating his observation. When she returned her gaze to him, he could see the fury radiating through her thinned lips and furrowed brows. “What are you doing here?”

“Don’t be coy, sweetness.” He brought a hand up, slowly brushed his knuckles over the soft swell of her breast, and grinned when she gasped. Her lower lip quivered, and her cheeks turned an alluring shade of crimson. Lowering his voice, he said, “You know exactly why I’m here.”

Muted whispers sounded from behind, and she caved her chest and moved away from his touch, slapping at his hand. “Don’t touch me.”

He arched a brow at her and leaned closer, until his lips were against the shell of her ear. “Funny, the last time were in this position, you were begging me to touch you all over.”

“Bastard,” she snapped, her eyes shimmering with anger and resentment as she arched her neck to glare at him.

She turned then and retrieved clothing from the locker. Her hands were trembling as she stepped away to slide into a pair of green velour pants and a matching cotton camisole. The red bra straps were visible underneath, and for some strange reason, the visual revved him up even more. She kept a distance as she folded her arms over her chest in a defensive gesture.

“Well?” she stated defiantly. “What do you want?”

He smiled, and she met the gesture with another scowl. “Do you really want me to put you over my shoulder and carry you out of here, Mira?” He noted the wince when he used her given name. The whispers at his back intensified, revealing that she had, in fact, been living under the alias of a dead woman as his sources had revealed when he’d finally struck pay dirt and learned where she had settled down.

She shook her head, struggling for words, and reached past him for the purse hanging from the peg inside the locker. As she closed the rectangular metal door with a click, she sighed. “Fine, we’ll do this somewhere else. But I’m not leaving the club with you.”

“Is that so?” he asked in a husky rasp and stepped into her personal space once more.

“Cut the shit,” she hissed and glanced around him again. Stepping closer, she continued, “Let me guess, you want me to track down someone else? Give you the location of some other soul so you can interrogate them for your bullshit agency?” She laughed, shaking her head. “What’s the plan? Seduce me again? Wait until I’m practically pleading for relief before you bring in the big guns?”

His grin vanished, replaced by anger. He forced his temper to cool before he responded. “I have a room upstairs. We’ll talk there.”

“No way.” She stepped back, placing the bulky purse draped over her shoulder between them, her distrust evident. “I will not go to a room willingly with you. I learned my lesson the last time.”

“You will go with me willingly, or I’ll carry you.” He snagged her arm when she tried to move and turned so that his back blocked out the room, preventing anyone from seeing her. “The last time was a misunderstanding that I take full credit for. I reacted impulsively, and you were embarrassed and hurt as a consequence. But I can promise you that the only big gun you’ll meet tonight”—he yanked her close, wrapped an arm around her waist, and pulled her against him, until they were hip to hip and she could feel the hard outline of his notable erection—“will be this one right here, darlin’.”

Despite the anger he could scent, he knew she was also aroused. Her full, berry-colored lips parted, and her pupils dilated wide. He shuddered when she brought her hand up, placed it against his chest, and pushed. Her touch was electric, her nearness heaven. He didn’t bother asking for permission when he swept her off her feet and started walking toward the exit of the room.

Bygones would be bygones. He fucked it up before, but it was time to make amends. Hell or high water, she was his female, and he was not going to exist without her.

Not anymore.

Crimson Sunrise Blurb & Excerpt

Talk about a crazy week. I really wanted to do this vlog style, but since the root canal has left me unable to speak clearly (and I have a blurb and excerpt to share) it's probably for the best that I wait until next week.   On the writing front -- I received word about my erotic BDSM novella, Make Me Shiver, and it's time for some revisions. That means even less time to socialize on the net, so if you don't see me around, that's why.

As for the blurb/excerpt.  I shared this on my author loop but figured now is a good time to share it on my blog as well.  I've turned in all the paperwork for Crimson Sunrise, so now it's just about revising according to my editor's requests, editing, etc.  I hope that everyone who enjoyed Crimson Moon enjoys this story as well.

Have a fantastic weekend!

Crimson Sunrise Blurb:

There is always calm before the storm…

After eradicating the obstacles between them, Emma Johnson and Caleb Blackney are ready to embrace their future together. They have a lot of decisions to make. There is the issue of Emma's fae heritage, her choice to become a werewolf or remain human, and Caleb's refusal to partake in anything that could cause harm to his mate.

When Caleb's sister goes missing, personal issues are forced aside, and he and Emma are faced with a past threat that has come knocking at their door. As the search for Sammie reveals plans far more sinister than they ever could have imagined, Emma and Caleb will face their fears, confront their enemies, and unite their families to stand against an evil that won't stop until vengeance is served.

Crimson Sunrise Inside Excerpt:

My vision became focused despite it all, allowing me to see everything. I knew these would be my final memories. I felt the warm salt of tears against my mouth and experienced the cruel absolution of saying good-bye.

The water came closer and closer, until I felt the freezing chill of blanketed wetness enveloping me. I gasped without making a sound as they pulled me into the murky water, staring down at the waves that distorted with their frantic movements. They pushed my head toward the surface, revealing the reflection of a terrified girl who was too young to die but was unable to change what loomed ahead.

The cold bite of water inside my nose and mouth silenced any protests. I struggled futilely, attempting to break free of the hands pressing against my shoulders and head. My lungs protested, demanding essential oxygen, burning miserably with the need to breathe. I held my breath, feeling the fire in my chest as my body screamed to take what was necessary to live. But there was no air to be found.

When I inhaled, I knew I would die.

I fought the need until I had no choice but to drag the water into my lungs. Raw and inexplicable pain radiated inside my chest, flooding my throat, nose, and mouth with an ice cold weight. I choked on the liquid, entering some strange, agonizing spasm that I couldn't control.

Images flickered through my mind in those last seconds, my life remembered in frames -- my mother, father, grandmother, Sammie, Trent, Sarah, Derek, Beverly, Chris, and finally, Caleb.

My final thought was of drowning, but not in water. I chose to swim in the deep indigo pools I loved so much, following the swirling currents down into the pupil until there was nothing but complete blackness.

Then the pain was no more.

Interview & Giveaway

Today I'm visiting the oh-so wonderful Anna at Anna's Book Blog. She was the first reviewer who took a chance on me (read A Kiss Before Dying) and has been nothing but generous and supportive.  When given the opportunity to visit her blog and answer a few questions, I jumped on board. As a part of the interview, I am also giving away a personalized copy of Crimson Moon.  All you have to do is stop by and leave a comment. It's for US/Canada only (sorry!).

Come on over by CLICKING HERE.

Thanks again, Anna! You rock!

Crimson Moon Book Trailer

Go ahead, hurl things at me. I have it coming! I swore I would NEVER do a book trailer yet here I am, pimping the one I just made. I suppose the only thing I can do to defend myself is blame someone else, so I'm going to go on the record and say this is all Rachel's (AKA Parajunkee's) fault for making the Dead, Undead, or Somewhere in Between trailer and creating a scratch.

Either way, I think it turned out all right. My favorite part? The Nine Inch Nails music. Trent Reznor is the shiz and allows fair use in his music so long as proper credit is given, etc. God, I adore him.

Eternity on Kindle/Fictionwise and Updates

Just a quick update before I get ready for bed (it's been a long day here).  I recently discovered Eternity and a Day is now available for the Kindle at Amazon: CLICK HERE, as well as at Fictionwise (where it is currently on sale): CLICK HERE.  So if you've been waiting to purchase a copy on Kindle, Nook, etc, now you can.

Today I mailed off the contract for Crimson Sunrise, so it will definitely be published. I made the decision to continue with the series after the amazing response from readers. I'm currently editing the hell out of the manuscript, and as soon as I've finished the book will go to my editor so we can begin the "process" of bringing the story to you. I've also wrapped up all things Omega Mine and have sent query letters/sample chapters to a few different people/places for consideration.

I hope you all enjoy a calm, relaxing weekend.  I've got a ton of work to do, so I'll be multitasking like mad for the next couple of weeks.  I'm also planning another vlog soon, since they are so enjoyable and it appears that people don't mind me acting like a goofball.

Don't forget to enter the swag contest by following the directions in the blog below! I've already purchased three DVD's (I said two, but couldn't help myself) and several goodies for the package. I love Halloween, so this is heaven for me.  I'm thinking I'll also include an additional book or two.

Time to get some sleep so I can be ready for a non-stop day tomorrow.

Eternity and a Day up for Book Of The Month

Eternity and a Day is up for book of the month at HEA reviews. Would any of you possibly consider swinging by to cast a vote in my direction?

http://hea-reviews.blogspot.com/2010/08/august-best-book-and-cover-of-month.html

On a sad note, we got some bad news in the family yesterday and I'd appreciate any well-wishes sent in the direction of my sister.  She's having a really rough time, so any positive thoughts would be welcome.  It's been a hard last few months for my family.  First Dad, then my Mom, and now my sister.  I hope the string of bad luck passes soon.

On the work front:  I finally wrapped up the queries and synopsis for Omega Mine and have sent the book into cyberspace.  Now the waiting game begins. Since there is nothing worse than that, I'm diving back into work. I have edits on Crimson Sunrise, writing to do on The Renfield Syndrome, and a TON of reviews to complete.  Once those projects are finished, I'll begin focusing on other works (Dark Hunger on a Killing Moon, The Company of Wolves, and a few contemporary romances I've had waiting for a turn at the PC).

Happy Hump Day! I've added some eye candy below for your visual enjoyment.
