Just a quick update.  You all know The Renfield Syndrome is done, but I had to pass along these awesome reviews I received for Dead, Undead, or Somewhere in Between recently.  I'm still amazed, awed, and humbled at the response and thank all of you for the continued support.

Review for Eternity and a Day

I'm so excited. I just learned that Eternity and a Day received a Top Pick, 4.5/5 stars at Night Owl Reviews!

Reviewer Tigger9 said:

I absolutely loved Eternity and a Day. This story was amazing and had my attention from the beginning to the end. I was drawn in right away and the story is intense. Aline Hunter keeps you guessing, never knowing what is going to happen next.

First Crimson Moon Review is In

Writing Status -- None
Mood -- Happy But Hot
Playing on itunes -- What You Waiting For? by Gwen Stefani

Just wanted to share this really quickly before I get an ice cold shower since we are STILL without A/C.  The first review for Crimson Moon is in and I'm so relieved. I wasn't sure how the story would be received.  Ashira at Happily Ever After Reviews gave it a 4.5/5 Teacups and had this to say:

If you love intrigue and romance, then this is the novel for you! I hope that I get to read more about Caleb and Emma again soon.

You can read the review in its entirety by clicking HERE.

I hope to make the blogging rounds tomorrow to check in with everyone.  It's too difficult to write or blog when you're trapped in the coolest room in the house (the basement) with all your crazed children as it's raining outside and there is nothing for them to do.

Rosalie Stanton's Possession

I posted my review on Goodreads but forgot to do so here, darn it! This is an excellent story by a fabulous friend. If you love sexy vampires, demon hunters, and so much sizzle and burn you'll melt, Possession is just the ticket.

Without further ado, the review!!

A few months ago, I purchased a copy of Rosalie Stanton’s first offering, Firsts. To say I fell in love would be putting it mildly. Her characters, quite literally, jumped off the page. Not to mention the hero, Thorn, carved his own special niche in my heart. So when I learned her second story, Possession, was released, I couldn’t wait to get my mitts on a copy.

In this story we are introduced to Arianna and Kade. She’s a demon hunter who detests things that go bump in the night. He’s a vampire that shows up one evening asking to team up to kick some bad guy ass. Hardly the yin to each other’s yang, they form a reluctant partnership.

Yet all is not entirely what it seems.

Arianna, for all her determination not to, feels something for Kade. And Kade, well, he’s yearned for the sultry minx that detests his kind for longer than he’d care to admit.

It takes a spell by eros demons to bring these two together in the throes of passion, but when the storm is weathered, can they confess their feelings and open their hearts to something more? You’ll have to read to find out, but don’t worry, it won’t hurt…much. *grin*

This is a laugh-out-loud kind of tale with tons of heat, emotion, and heart. I always love finding vampire material that offers something new, which Possession does. It’s not meant to be taken too seriously, which is the beauty of the work. It’s been a very long time since I’ve giggled and snorted as I’ve read along, but let me tell you, when the fun begins you won’t be able to sit still.

Ms. Stanton is an artisan of her craft, and she’ll make sure you wriggle and squirm as much as you ooh and ahh. Definitely an author for the keeper shelf, I can’t wait for more from her in the future.

You can purchase Possession at Loose Id.

Dreaming of Writing

Writing Status - Edits
Mood - Agitated
Playing on itunes - The Wretched by Nine Inch Nails

For the rest of the week, I'll be working hard on Eternity edits. So if you don't see me around, I'm in the cave, reconstructing and smoothing out things. I'm not exactly looking forward to it, but I've managed to convince myself that:

A. I am the writer here and...
B. The story will do as I want, even if it has to change.

Then there is the Crimson Sunrise news -- the first test read was a thumbs up. Now, we're waiting for the second reader's okay. If it's a go, there will be heavy edits (these I anticipated), and that means my writing will be forced to the backseat again.

I was complaining to my husband last night that I never have time to write anymore. Between edits, promo, etc, I just can't find the time. It's incredibly frustrating. I have so many ideas going through my head, and until I start clearing them away, it will only get worse. Right now, I have three stories stewing in the brain and eight WIP's. That's enough voices and envisioned "scenes" to drive anyone insane.

On a more happy note: Dead got an amazing 4/5 star review at Darkly Reading that you can read HERE. I'm so pleased by the tour and the amount of word-of-mouth my visit at Parajunkie's View generated. As I follow them on Twitter, I can see the "I want to Read" shout outs. Knowing someone wants to read your story enough to tweet the title of it to the world...crazy.

Full Disclosure by Cari Quinn Review

Let me start by saying I've meant to do this for a long while now. I absolutely loved Full Disclosure, and had every intention on sharing my review of the deliciously naughty story with everyone. Due to interruptions, I just now had the opportunity to sit down, put it to paper, and share with all of you.

Without further ado...

When it comes to sizzling erotic romance, author extraordinaire Cari Quinn will leave you breathless. Her first offering, Full Disclosure, gives us a glimpse of what we can expect in what is sure to be an extremely successful future. With solid and well developed characters, a fast-paced and intriguing premise, and so much chemistry and sexual tension you’ll need an ice-cold shower and licensed masseuse to unwind, she leaves you hungry for one thing and one thing only – more.

Holly Burrows is a woman’s woman. From the moment she arrives on the page, she is a force to be reckoned with. Tired of seeking pleasure with her own hands and toys, she’s decided to be adventurous and registers on Hunk Du Jour, a website that specializes in men seeking “adult” encounters. A “cub” responds to her ad, but in this circumstance, age isn’t an issue. Recently divorced, Holly wants a man with stamina that will come to her without strings, and her would-be lover, Kent, seems to fit the bill perfectly. But before she can meet with Kent, she has a business meeting to attend to. When she arrives for lunch with her associate, Alex, and he comes on to her, she throws caution to the wind and accepts.

Two cubs in one afternoon? Who could possibly turn such an offer down?

Kent – AKA the man Holly has been conversing with through Hunk Du Jour – AKA her associate Alex Stryker – has wanted Holly for as long as he can remember. Months of preparation and steamy late night phone calls have driven him insane, and in an attempt to get to her before his alter-ego can, he meets Holly for lunch with more than business in mind. To his utter shock, she accepts his advances, and they agree to venture to his home to seal the deal. As the night unfolds and passions ignite, Alex knows he wants far more than one night in the arms of the woman of his dreams. However, it’s not as easy or as simple as confessing his feelings.

When Alex finally comes clean and tells Holly that he not only owns Hunk Du Jour, but he is the man she’s been conversing with for weeks under a false identity, will she be able to find it in her heart to forgive him? Can a future exist off the basis of a lie?

The answers are not entirely what you’d expect, which make Full Disclosure so much more than your average erotic romance. Ms. Quinn does a fantastic job of snaring the reader using every resource in her arsenal; including humor, sensuality, and pure, unbridled emotion. You’ll wriggle, you’ll squirm, you’ll laugh, and you’ll cry.

Full Disclosure is a sexual thrill ride erotica fans are sure to enjoy.

You can purchase a copy of Full Disclosure at The Wild Rose Press AKA Wilder Press by clicking HERE.

I Heart Brains Review

Just when you're ready to cave, something good happens. Hungry For Your Love and A Kiss Before Dying have been been reviewed at Night Owl Romance. Hungry For Your Love got an awesome 4.5/5 hearts, while A Kiss Before Dying got 5/5!

This is what they said about I Heart Brains...

This was a quick, amusing and oddly romantic story. Woman loses her loser husband and donates the body. Guy dies and goes in search of a new body. Fate, destiny, whatever you want to call it collides to give them both a second chance at a better life.

I said if anything, it would be good for a laugh. *chuckles*. Thanks Lexile, for taking the time to review the book!

Back to the writing cave. Here's hoping I'm inspired to get off my arse!!

Hostage to Love by Maya Blake

Crushed by betrayal, Belle Winkworth-Jones flees the shambles of her short-lived marriage…only to be kidnapped by a vicious rebel soldier determined to keep her for himself. Nick Andreakos mounts a ruthless rescue to save the wife who walked away from him, even though he's resentful Belle could dismiss their marriage so easily.

On Althea, their private Greek island where Belle recuperates, passion ignites, taking hold with relentless force. But in the shadows, danger lurks. The rebel soldier is determined to recapture Belle.

Can Belle and Nick set aside their differences in time to fight this threat and save their love, or will it be too late…?

Maya Blake has crafted an incredible story that has it all - intense and combustible chemistry between the main characters, intrigue, suspense, necessary tension and conflict, lush and detailed locations, and of course, romance.

There wasn't a moment during this book that I felt derailed or disinterested. In fact, I would call this read a bonafide page turner! All of the elements came together when necessary with perfect timing. Keeping me on my toes and eager for more.

You can purchase your own copy of Hostage to Love at the TWRP HERE. (Do yourself a favor! Click the link!)

For the Love of a Queen by Laura Hogg

War has destroyed four-fifths of the population. Governments have fallen. A former covert agent wanders the wilderness, lending her skills where she can. She is crowned queen for her efforts and meets the warrior who is her match. He’s handsome, courageous, and good-hearted, but at a young age was recruited by the most evil warlord walking the land.

He’s sent in as a spy to bring back the beautiful queen. Shock is in store for him when he meets her. He doesn’t want to bring her back for execution, but if he doesn’t, her people will be slaughtered. For love, he chooses to save those she cherishes.

He watches while she’s taken captive, not lifting his sword in her defense; watches her suffer punishment and in agony can do nothing about it. This queen and her warrior will battle evil, but will the price be their love or their lives?

For The Love of a Queen is a well crafted and unique love story (Laura Hogg has an extraordinary gift with description and detail) centered around a very strong hero and his equally strong heroine in a post apocalyptic future. The attraction between the two is immediate but the romance is sweet, bringing the characters together (and then separating the lovers) over time.

A most enjoyable read. You can purchase For the Love of a Queen at TWRP HERE.

Jen by Nick Dienst

Wyatt loves his girlfriend, Jen. She's the most beautiful thing he's ever seen, and the woman he intends to spend the rest of his life with. But when he discovers her in a motel with another man one night following one too many drinks, his sanity takes a turn for the worst. What comes next is the demented ravings of a scorned and unstable madman as he plots the revenge that will completely eradicate Jen from his life. Once and for all...
.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's gritty, dark, and sucks you into the mind of depravity. Wyatt's voice at the start is strong and buyable (and most importantly - likeable), making his downward spiral as the world slips and falls away difficult to witness. Great books take you outside of your comfort zone, and this one does exactly that.
.
I can't say much more, as I don't want to give away details of the story that make it unique. But if you're in the mood for something a bit different (and definitely dark!), give it a read.
.
Jen by Nick Dienst can be purchased by Eternal Press HERE.
